Lina Cañon

Lina is very excited to join the College for Social Innovation team after working as the Volunteer and Internship Program Manager at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.

Lina brings years of experience in the nonprofit sector and a great passion for mentorship, youth empowerment and advocacy of underrepresented groups. These passions were born through her work as a Service Scholar at Suffolk University’s Center for Community Engagement, where she was responsible for the Alternative Spring Break Program. It was during this time that Lina learned about diverse and complex needs and challenges that local communities face, and saw the power that lies in change created by an individual.

After graduating from Suffolk, Lina worked was a Case Manager for the Family Housing Department at a Chicago nonprofit, where she started as an AmeriCorps VISTA. During her time in Chicago, Lina solidified her commitment to helping individuals realize how much change they can create, and how far that change can go.
