Positions:

Fellow Financial Support AmeriCorps VISTA

The Fellow Financial Support VISTA will play a key role in building capacity for College for Social Innovation’s Internships team to effectively support first-generation and Pell-eligible students attending Semester in the City. Semester in the City is a study away program in which students complete a mentored internship at a Boston-based social impact organization for full college credit. With the support of the Internships Team, the VISTA will work to create a fair and equitable process to support students experiencing financial difficulties while attending the program. This will include developing a system for students to apply for assistance from the Program’s emergency fund, collecting and analyzing feedback and data on financial challenges and needs experienced by Program fellows, and tracking students receiving food or nutrition support during their time at Semester in the City.

Enrollment AmeriCorps VISTA

The Enrollment VISTA will play a key role in building capacity for College for Social Innovation’s Recruitment and Marketing team to enroll students who rely on financial aid and credit transfer to attend Semester in the City. Semester in the City is a study away program in which students complete a mentored internship at a Boston-based social impact organization for full college credit. With the support of the Recruitment and Marketing team, the VISTA will work to create a standardized process to support students with concerns about transferring credit or financial aid to attend the Program. This will include developing a report and resources that draw on research from similar organizations and implementing system changes that increase the efficiency of the process to increase the number of students who identify as Pell-eligible that enroll and attend Semester in the City. The VISTA will also work to create school-specific resources for prospective students to help them better navigate the credit and aid transfer process.

Evaluations AmeriCorps VISTA

The Evaluations VISTA will play a key role in building capacity for College for Social Innovation’s Operations team to effectively evaluate our program’s impact on anti-poverty host organizations and low-income community members. Students enrolled in CFSI’s programs complete semester-long internships at social impact organizations for full college credit. With the support of the Operations team, the VISTA will work to increase efficiency in our current evaluation process and develop systems to measure the impact our students have on the community. This will include documentation and recommendations to improve our data collection methods, generating materials that can be used for recruitment and funding opportunities using community impact data, and working with and training students to collect and report on their work’s impact while completing their internship.
