EDITH BUHS

Senior Program Advisor

Edith joined CFSI staff in 2019 as the Senior Program Advisor. She oversees the Semester in the City Program with its shared apartments, internships, and coursework and she is a supporting instructor for the courses Becoming a Problem Solver and Social Innovator’s Toolbox. Her goal is to build on the success of Semester in the City to make those 15 weeks more transformational and equitable for students while staff roles are engaging and sustainable.

Edith has spent her career working in young and growing nonprofits. Prior to joining CFSI she was a founding staff member at AchieveMission, a nonprofit consulting firm working with other nonprofits across the United States to deliver dramatic social impact. During her time at AchieveMission her clients included Harlem Children's Zone, Roca, Root Capital, the Rhode Island Foundation, Kresge Foundation, Institute for Market Transformation, Corporation for Supportive Housing, Explore Schools, College Possible and Earthjustice among others. Previously, Edith held senior talent management roles at three nationally recognized social entrepreneurial organizations — Citizen Schools, City Year, and Jumpstart -- where she helped build these organizations from inspiring ideas to national leaders with hundreds of staff and dozens of offices. At these rapidly growing nonprofits, Edith developed her skills in entrepreneurial growth, program design, organizational development, talent, and culture.

Edith earned her MPA from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and her BA in psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Illinois. She is passionate about a swift, just and complete transition away from fossil fuels and volunteers with Mothers Out Front, a climate action organization. She loves exploring New England’s rail trails by bike with her family and reading in the hammock.
