A Decade of Light Honoree: Brooke Dietrich ‘25
Since 2025, Brooke has grown from a from a Fellow at the Vermont Commission for Women to a current District Communications Intern at the U.S. House of Representatives.
Brooke is an alumni honoree at A Decade of Light, CFSI’s 10-year anniversary fundraiser on May 7, 2026. Support future student outcomes like Brooke’s with your gift.
As a Semester for Impact Fellow with the Vermont Commission on Women, Brooke completed her internship while staying close to her home college, the University of Vermont, which she graduated from after her semester with CFSI. At the VCW, Brooke was responsible for tracking legislation in the Vermont State Legislature that aligned with the organization's principles, including reproductive/healthcare justice, economic equity, and women in the criminal legal system.
From the start of the 2025 legislative session to the end, Brooke gave monthly updates to the commission, revived the VCW podcast series, and helped coordinate the annual Pay Equity Day at the Vermont State House. Her favorite aspect of the work was the process of communicating legislative updates to her team and discussing with stakeholders why VCW’s policy priorities are important and impactful for Vermonters.
After graduating from the University of Vermont in May of 2025, Brooke moved back home to Chester County, PA, where she started working as a Support Assistant for CFSI (where she helps coordinate internship syllabi, resources, and experiential learning research for the public service college created by CFSI) and as a District Communications Intern for her Congresswoman in the U.S. House of Representatives.
What sparks you to make change?
“I’m driven by the idea that we have the capacity to create communities that truly nourish everyone. I refuse to overlook the incredible amount of good currently in the world. When we focus on the people already leading with empathy and integrity, change stops feeling like an uphill battle and starts feeling like an invitation to build something lasting alongside them.”
